Security Features
This year IDS has added to it’s line of products integrated
security features to meet the demands of today’s technology and
protecting the customers information. Over the past 5 years new
regulations like DOD 5015 and HIPAA have been put in place that require
the presence of new security measures to protect data and documents.
Things like digital signing of documents, digital certificates, 128 and
256 bit encryption, and access logging. IDS has taken the steps to
insure it’s customers these new measures will be available with IDS
products. To accomplish this IDS has entered into OEM agreements with
the top manufacturers of security products that meet these requirements.
Through the integration of these products with IDS products features
like the following are achieved.Signer Wizard for Digital Signatures

Wizard. Using Signer Wizard users can sign, countersign and encrypt the
documents.

integrates with your address book, outlook contacts list, provides you
access to your personal certificates. In addition it also contacts to
Active Directory services within your corporate network as well as third
party directory services such as Verisign.

Key Benefits
The key to enforcing security and administrative policies is to make it
easy, simple, and if possible, transparent and automatic for users to
comply with security guidelines. As the backbone of IDS's integrated
solution, Edge Guard™ makes it possible to secure communications and
applications to allow critical business processes to be moved to the
Internet without compromising security.
Identification and Verification
The integrated solution provides encryption and digital signature
capabilities that make it possible to achieve positive identification of
users, verification of the users' identities and confidence in the
security of information that a user digitally signs. Each user is
provided with a unique digital ID that is used to seamlessly integrate
security into desktop applications.
Running on Windows, the solution provides an intuitive
interface that is seamlessly integrated into a user's everyday desktop
environment.
OneClick Settings - Enhanced Security Management
With OneClick Settings, the solution automatically and transparently
manages the digital ID and performs security checks on behalf of the
user.
Unlike basic enterprise security products that burden
users with difficult tasks such as choosing which key should be used to
decrypt data, deciding whether a certificate is valid and trusted, and
requesting updated certificates each year, Edge Guard™ users do not need
to understand how security works. This automation can help to reduce
your administrative costs and make security easier to use.
Tight integration and interoperability with Microsoft
On Microsoft Windows® 2000 Professional, Windows XP and Windows 98 or
Windows® NT 4.0, for example, users can encrypt and digitally sign
documents for themselves and others through a simple right mouse click
on a file, then select the appropriate action in the menu. Double
clicking on a secured file decrypts the file, verifies the signature,
and launches the associated application, such as Microsoft Word. It's
that simple.
With the latest release of Edge Guard™ products, the
solution leverages the native security built into applications such as
Outlook and Internet Explorer running on Microsoft Windows 2003. By
synchronizing the standard digital ID for use with Microsoft CryptoAPI,
a wide range of CryptoAPI-compliant applications may now be used with
all standard digital IDs to leverage the enhanced security capabilities.
Interoperability with PKI-Aware Applications:
As highlighted above, the solution leverages the native security built
into applications such as Outlook, Internet Explorer etc., running on
Microsoft Windows 2003.
