Hunt, an Air Force Vietnam Era Veteran and incorporated in the Commonwealth of Virginia in March of 1995 as a Vietnam and Korea Era Veteran Owned C Corporation. The owners brought with them 17 years of Computer Engineering and Auditing experience with a long list of certifications. In 1996 IDS became a Microsoft Partner and is now a Managed Gold Certified Partner with five areas of competency. IDS has been with vendors that are leaders in the document management field like HP, Microsoft, Adobe, Kofax, Kodak, Fujitsu, Computer Associates for over 10 years. Since 1995 IDS has provided Federal, State and Local government, Educational Institutions, Healthcare Providers and Commercial Clients with document conversion services, document management solutions, business process management consulting, medical records digitization and storage, workflow process design and software, digital imaging integration and data processing services. IDS' initial focus was on government contracting and later healthcare, legal, financial, professional services and other large and SMB commercial clients.

IDS started in 1998 to develop its own document management, medical records and workflow products under the Edge and MedDocs trademarks, having sold Westbrook, FileNet, and a number of other third party products, after seeing the frustration of clients over many issues related to the proprietary nature of the products, the difficulty for users to learn the products , the high cost of acquiring the products and more. IDS' Management objective was to design products that were truly user friendly, full of the right features, and affordable. Today , six generations later, these products are now flexible, not WYSIWYG, web enabled and developed in the latest Microsoft .NET platform with User manageable and friendly GUI, and very affordable. The Edge product line affords government agencies and companies the unique ability to service multiple user demands and requirements for different GUI values, housing and managing their documents with a single product
